MFG Day Screening FAQ

[faq][que]What is Manufacturing Day?[/que][ans]MFG DAY addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.Supported by a group of industry sponsors and co-producers, MFG DAY is designed to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, MFG DAY empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.[/ans][que]Why should I host a screening?[/que][ans]American Made Movie is an entertaining and engaging way to help members of your community understand not only what manufacturing is but also why it is important. Consider a theater in a local library, a local community college, a high school auditorium. Some community centers or large churches have gathering spaces where movies can be shown. There are many options.[/ans][que]What type of license do I need?[/que][ans]1. Private Screening License- We provide you a copy of the film (to keep) and extend to you a one-day public performance license to screen the movie at the time(s) you indicate. You can keep the 2-disc blu-ray/DVD but for internal individual use. If you’d like to do another screening at a later date we’d be pleased to arrange that at a discount to your first.
2. Public Screening License - If possible we can work with a local theater to try and arrange a screening on a date/time range that would work with your plans. Not all theaters are open to this option however, since documentaries can hardly compete with Hollywood blockbusters. However, if a theater knows that we have a partner who will help bring a full audience and the screening is done during a weeknight or matinee hours, they are more inclined to work with us.
3. Educational License - If you are interested in just screening American Made Movie in your classroom, you should purchase the Educational Edition. This license provides you the film in its full version in addition to two shorter versions (30 and 60 mins). The Educational Edition also comes with 48 lesson plans full of activities for you to be able to incorporate into your MFG Day Event.[/ans][que]Why do I need a public performance license?[/que][ans]A movie is considered intellectual property and is protected by Copyright Laws. Screening a movie requires the expressed written consent of the rights owner. By working with us, we willfully transfer our public performance rights to give you permission to screen the movie at the date/time/venue you decide. This written permission protects you from any claims that a local theater, film representative, interviewee, or other person might claim against you. It is also how we remain financially viable and continue to produce movies that change the world.[/ans][que]How much does it cost?[/que][ans]Option 1: Private Screening License - We ask for $375 to license the film for public display. This includes delivery of the 2-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo, the rights to screen the movie publicly, and permission to charge admission if desired.
Option 2:If we are able to arrange a deal with a theater on your behalf then we will offset our licensing fee through the sale of tickets. We ask for $49 from you to cover the process of arranging the screening and the delivery of the Blu-ray to the theater.[/ans][que]How do I host a successful screening event?[/que][ans]If you’ve never hosted a Screening or are in search of a more thorough guide to host a successful one, when you partner with American Made Movie for MFG Day we will provide you a Screening Partner Handbook that includes all the tools and materials to ensure you are properly prepared to host the best screening you can host!
