Chris Michalakis is the 5th President of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO, previously serving as the organization’s Secretary-Treasurer, a post he had held since April 1st, 2010. Since November 2004, Chris has worked with the United Food and Commercial Workers where he started as a business agent with UFCW Local 876, eventually becoming the statewide Legislative and Political Director.
Chris graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Communications. He is currently also a part time graduate student at Wayne State where he is perusing a Master of Arts in Employment and Labor Relations.
